I Have a Dream…
(An essay about a world-wide problem, what is being done, and what you can do)
By: Praneetha Bhogi
Child abuse is occurring many places throughout the world and is one of our society’s biggest problems. Adults not only leave scars on the outside, but also on the inside. Emotional scars, as they are called, are deep and sorrowful. They can be as hurtful as physical ones.
To help prevent child abuse, there have been many actions done. 1 action is that a law states that child abuse is not tolerated and is illegal, but, unfortunately, that is only in the U.S.A. Also, there are parent education programs, which help adults stop contributing to this problem. An example is the International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (ISPCAN).The 3rd action is that home-visiting programs are partly established for checking for evidence of child abuse. An example is the 1st Step Transitional Housing.
What I could/would do is help stop child abuse by volunteering at some organizations. Also, I’ll advise others not to help make the problem worse by committing to this problem. Last but not least, is the easiest - not contribute to child abuse.
In conclusion, child abuse is nationwide and efforts have been made to stop it. Everyone can help, including you. You may be the only one at first, but things will change as people start seeing the importance of stopping child abuse and what it has done to our friends, family, and every other human alike. You can make a difference. My dream is that together, we will stop child abuse and save children from the unnecessary pain they would experience.
P.S: I have decide to put her school work in blogs, so that we have a recorded version.
